The iPRES international conference is one of the most important meetings dedicated to the long-term preservation of digital data. This year, over 300 experts from 30 countries will meet from October 3-6 at Bern Expo. The Swiss National Library is the organizer of iPRES 2016. All presentations and discussions will be held in English.
The 2015 workshop was attended by all 30 partner institutions of Web Archive Switzerland. Participants gained an insight into individual activities and were given an opportunity to suggest improvements.
The workshop held in 2012 by Web Archive Switzerland was aimed at contacts in partner institutions that select and submit websites for the Archive. The National Library’s access system for the digital collections was also presented.
The 2009 workshop at the Swiss National Library updated participants on the status of work on Web Archive Switzerland and demonstrated the workflow to interested institutions, from submission through to website archiving.
In 2008 the Swiss National Library held a workshop on collecting and cataloguing websites of patrimonial importance for cantonal libraries and other interested institutions.
February 2006 saw a conference at the National Library on the long-term availability of digital publications. The concept for building a common collection of websites of patrimonial importance was presented.
The conference in November 2004 dealt with cooperation between the National Library and cantonal libraries to build an online collection of digital publications and a proposal for the long-term preservation of diskettes.
