The SLA’s mandate

Writers deposit material with the Swiss Literary Archives (SLA) that private users or scholars, educators and journalists access and exploit through research, teaching and the media.

The SLA are a young institution that has successfully managed the transition from storage memory to functional memory. In addition to collecting and preserving outstanding literary testimony, the SLA keep their finger on the pulse of literary life in Switzerland and key issues relating to archiving.

The SLA support research and publication projects relating to their fonds, promote future talents, and play an active role in archive-related research and evaluation bodies.

The SLA maintain close relationships with literature festivals, juries and publishers and are involved in genetic criticism and textual genetics, writing process research, biography research and edition philology in various forums.
