The collection of Web Archive Switzerland consists of websites with a bearing on Switzerland. The Swiss National Library (NL), the cantonal libraries and other specialised libraries and archives make a representative selection of the grey literature available online.
Content and scope
- Over 20’000 selected websites for the general public
- Websites relating to the cantons and Switzerland
- On historical, social, political, cultural, religious, scientific and economic subjects
- Websites that have been edited, implemented or designed by Swiss authors or authors who are related to Switzerland
Collection principles
- Generally the selected websites are captured every two years
- Free websites that are not password-protected
Research and access
- Websites listed in Helveticat
- The full texts are searchable in e-Helvetica Access, the entry portal to the digital collections of the NL
- Access to the content is only possible in the public rooms of the NL and the partner institutions
- The websites are preserved in the NL’s long-term archive so that they remain accessible for future generations
