In 2021, the Swiss National Library celebrated Friedrich Dürrenmatt's 100th birthday at the Dürrenmatt Centre Neuchâtel and the Swiss Literary Archives.
5 January 2021 marked 100 years since the birth of Friedrich Dürrenmatt. The Swiss writer and painter left his estate to the Swiss Confederation.
- His literary works are administered and conserved by the Swiss Literary Archives SLA.
- His pictures are researched and presented at the Centre Dürrenmatt Neuchâtel CDN in dialogue with his literary oeuvre.
The Centre Dürrenmatt Neuchâtel and the Swiss Literary Archives – both of which are part of the Swiss National Library – celebrated the writer and artist who was instrumental in their foundation with exhibitions, publications, mediation activities and educational events. Dürrenmatt was also celebrated by numerous other institutions in Switzerland and abroad.
The Centre Dürrenmatt Neuchâtel, built around the former house of the Dürrenmatt family, undertook major works to further enhance this heritage and make accessible living spaces that had previously remained private.
