On 23 May 2025, participants from Wikimedia Switzerland’s GLAM on Tour will get together for a follow-up event in the National Library and conduct a group writing exercise inspired by the current “Layers of women’s lives” exhibition.

For International Women’s Year in 1975, the National-Zeitung newspaper in Basel hosted a collage competition focusing on women. Participants were invited to reflect on the concept of “woman” and how she is perceived.
Issues like equality, gender roles and societal expectations remain relevant today. The current exhibition at the Swiss National Library uses the collages from 1975 as an opportunity to reflect – 50 years later and from a different perspective – on what has and hasn’t changed.
While a new collage is being created in the exhibition space in Bern, “GLAM on Tour” participants will tackle these issues in more depth via Wikipedia articles, connecting to the main theme of “GLAM on Tour” 2024.
The “GLAM on Tour” project fosters local connections between Wikipedia contributors and cultural institutions. A wide selection of images of women from photographs and posters in the National Library's Prints and Drawings Department is available on Wikimedia Commons.
