Individual documents in the SLA
In addition to complete estates and archives, the Swiss Literary Archives (SLA) hold two stand-alone collections of individual documents:
- The acquisitions of the Manuscripts Department of the original Swiss National Library
- Acquisitions since the SLA were established in 1991 that are not linked to specific holdings
Content and scope
- General collection of manuscripts acquired by the Manuscripts Department of the original Swiss National Library and now held by the SLA. These documents or collections (letters, manuscripts or presentation copies) are indicated by the code SLA-Ms.
- Individual acquisitions by the SLA, indicated by the code SLA-Ms-Zq. Documents or collections (letters, manuscripts or presentation copies) acquired by the SLA that are not part of existing estates or archives.
Research and access
- The inventory of the general manuscripts collection is currently in the form of a card index that can only be used as an internal search tool on request.
