The Federal Archives of Historic Monuments collect unique documents on architectural history, historic monuments preservation, archaeology, protection of built heritage and landscapes, and folk culture. They include restoration reports, architects’ plans, photographs and administrative records.

Experts’ archives – historic monuments preservation
The Federal Commission for Monument Preservation and its predecessor organisations have been conserving monuments of artistic value since 1881. The resulting documentation is systematically collected.

Inventories – historic monuments preservation
The Federal Archives of Historic Monuments house inventories from the fields of architectural and art history, protection of built heritage and landscapes.

Meydenbauer cameras and survey photographs
The only known cameras of Albrecht Meydenbauer, one of the inventors of photogrammetry, can be found in the Swiss National Library.
