This specialised collection contains scientifically founded and yet easily readable publications for users interested in Swiss history. Methodological works and textbooks are largely missing; the offer is aimed at all audiences interested in the subject area and not exclusively at academic one. On the one hand, the collection includes overviews of Swiss history, works on individual eras, as well as publications on the history of the cantons. On the other hand, the collection includes works that cover political history and past events as well as books on a wide range of topics relating to economic and social history (incl. engineering and environmental history, women's and gender history), history of law and cultural history (incl. history of mentalities and everyday history), history of photography and mass media, history of science and history of religion.
Here you will find publications relating to archaeology, numismatics as well as town and regional planning. This collection mainly contains publications showing developments from the Age of Enlightenment (18th Century) to modern times.
The latest issues of over 70 historical and archaeological journals can be found here.
The Swiss History collection also includes audiovisual material on DVD and other media. A multimedia PC has been set aside specifically for the purpose of consulting this audiovisual material.
