University and university of applied sciences libraries

Thanks to a partnership between the Swiss National Library (NL) and university and university of applied sciences libraries, the NL is building a repository of online Swiss university publications.

A common structure of metadata for university publications was established in cooperation with the Konferenz der Universitätsbibliotheken der Schweiz (KUB). Online university publications are submitted and archived in a standardised manner. Since 2003, an agreement between the members of the KUB regulates the delivery of online publications to the NL for long-term archiving. Moreover, the KUB has designed a concept for assigning URNs (Uniform Resource Names). To maintain the collaboration with its partners, the NL organises regular conference-meetings with representatives of university and university of applied sciences libraries.
