Dealing with online publications is a major challenge for all libraries and archives. The Internet produces such a huge quantity of information that it is still unthinkable and virtually impossible at the present to collect and archive everything that is published on the Internet.
Even a selective approach demands resources beyond the scope of a single institution; collaboration with other institutions is therefore the only avenue, which enables the Swiss National Library (NL) to fulfil its mandate in the domain of collecting and archiving online publications.

Given its role of national library, the NL actively seeks the collaboration of other Swiss partners, university and cantonal libraries, in the context of e-Helvetica. Furthermore the NL has also established contacts with commercial publishers as well as website publishers. On the international scene, the NL collaborates with other national institutions facing similar challenges.
