Each year, the Swiss National Library (NL) fills another 1,600 metres or so of stacks. The new acquisitions of course include books, periodicals, newspapers, official and association publications, but there are also new documents acquired by the Swiss Literary Archives and the Prints and Drawings Department. These frequently consist of the substantial literary estates of authors and artists but there are also individual portfolios, posters, prints and drawings, photographs, letters, manuscripts, postcards, plans and the like. The new acquisitions are described in detail in each year's NL annual report.
Here we present the most noteworthy acquisitions from the General Collections, the Swiss Literary Archives and the Prints and Drawings Department.
