Zurich main station: original plans by Jakob Friedrich Wanner (1830-1903)

In 1990 the Federal Archives of Historic Monuments – which became part of the Prints and Drawings Department of the Swiss National Library in 2007 – took possession of 36 original plans for Zurich main station. The “metropolitan railway palace” was built in 1865-1871 in accordance with a project conceived by Jakob Friedrich Wanner, city architect of Zurich and chief architect of the Swiss North-Eastern Railway (NOB). The large-format plans were restored in 2011 and digitised in 2013, so these important documents of Swiss architectural history are now available for the public to admire.
