Swiss Postcard app

The Swiss Postcard app lets you view picture postcards of Swiss towns and villages dating back to around 1900. It is available free of charge for smartphones and tablets.

To start with, the app shows you postcards of your current location. You can also navigate using a map of Switzerland or search for a specific town or village. Images can be shared on social media, and you can also send them in an e-mail or MMS – or print them out and send them by post!

Over 1,000 historical postcards

The app was developed by the School of Management and Engineering Vaud on behalf of the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Libraries. It went online in 2015, offering views of 1,000 towns and villages. New ones are being added all the time. The project is coordinated by the Swiss National Library.
