5 January 2021 marks 100 years since the birth of Friedrich Dürrenmatt. The Swiss writer and painter, who was born in Konolfingen in 1921 and died in Neuchâtel in 1990, left his estate to the Swiss Confederation.
- His literary works are administered and conserved by the Swiss Literary Archives SLA.
- His pictures are presented at the Centre Dürrenmatt Neuchâtel CDN in dialogue with his literary oeuvre.
The Centre Dürrenmatt Neuchâtel and the Swiss Literary Archives – both of which are part of the Swiss National Library – are celebrating the writer and artist who was instrumental in their foundation with exhibitions, publications, mediation activities and educational events. To mark his 100th birthday, Dürrenmatt is being celebrated by numerous other institutions in Switzerland and abroad.
As part of this anniversary, the Centre Dürrenmatt Neuchâtel, built around the former house of the Dürrenmatt family, is undertaking major works to further enhance this heritage.
