Swiss Literary Archives

The Swiss Literary Archives contain some 300 complete archival fonds and 120 partial archival fonds and other archival collections that can be consulted free of charge for research purposes as well as for scientific, literary and journalistic studies.

The SLA holds literary documents from the four linguistic regions of Switzerland: French, German, Italian and Romansh, with special emphasis on the 20th and 21st centuries.

The SLA was created in 1989 after the author Friedrich Dürrenmatt donated his manuscripts to the Confederation on the condition that a Swiss repository for literary archives be created. The SLA was officially inaugurated at the Swiss National Library in early 1991.
