Local catalogues of specialised libraries and documentation centres (selection)

Alliance Sud, Swiss Alliance of Development Organizations is the common platform for development policy lobbying by the six leading Swiss development organizations.
Alliance Sud operates documentation and resource centers in Berne and Lausanne. These centers provide the Swiss public with information about development issues, developing countries, and North-South relations, with a special emphasis on Switzerland's connections with developing countries.
The catalogue contains about 13'000 items, 5'000 monographs and 8'000 articles. Searches can be made by keywords, author or subject.

The SAPHIR Database contains documents of 7public health libraries and information centers in Lausanne and Geneva, e.g. more than 40.000 references of books, articles, reports, non-published documents (grey literature), reviews, multimedia, etc. It is managed with the Alexandrie software, and hosted by the Hospices / CHUV in Lausanne.
It is possible to make simple search, advanced, expert, by author, collection and descriptor.

The ILO Library in Geneva is the world's leading library on matters related to working conditions.
The online catalogue Labordoc contains references to a wide range of print and electronic publications, including journal articles, on all aspects of work and sustainable livelihoods, and the work-related aspects of economic and social development and human rights.

The document server contains over 800,000 bibliographic records, including 360,000 full text documents, covering preprints, articles, books, journals and photographs that are of interest to people working in particle physics and related areas.

This information portal gives access to the scientific heritage of EPFL as well as its library resources. It is managed by the Polytechnic School of Lausanne and gives access to more than 80,000 publications.

The library of the Kunsthaus Zürich is a special library with focus on modern art from the 19th to the 21st century.
As from May 1997 all new titles that appear are recorded in the online catalogue LIBERO WebOPAC.
Older documents are listed in the card catalogue of the library, some in the alphabetical central catalogue (AZK) till 1989 (digitized catalogue) of the ZB Zürich. This items are marked “KU”.
It is possible to make simple and advanced searches, by serial title or index.

References all audio records collected by the Swiss National sound Archives, in particular
radio programmes of the SRG SSR idée suisse (Swiss Radio Station) broadcasted between 1932 and 1955.

The library of the SGB in Bern is the only Trade Union library in Switzerland with public access. Since its foundation in 1880 it has been collecting French and German publications and documents dealing with work and trade union.
The collection contains about 20'000 monographs and 250 serials.
The online catalogue NetBiblio references all documents accessed after 1994. Older documents are listed in the card catalogue.

The library of the United Nations Office in Geneva was founded in 1919.
Three main catalogues are accessible for the public:
Non-UN-material published between 1987-Today, non UN-materials published between 1919-1986 and documents and publications by the UN.
